Under Clear Skies
Lake Tahoe, Nevada, USA
My goal this year was to visit Lake Tahoe during summer. I realized last week I had not fulfilled this task, so in a last-ditch effort caught the Amtrak train to Reno and drove down to Tahoe for 3 days of shooting.
The lake is so huge, it is a difficult task to determine where you want to be for sunset --- there are so many good views from the Nevada and California side! About two hours before sundown, I determined this was the spot! Although I was yearning for drama on the horizon, all shooting was under clear skies. Notwithstanding this setback, the sun cast an amazing glow on the normally white rocks of the shoreline, providing its own kind of drama. The waves raged on the shore, and a long exposure helped capture the intense blues!
