Fires spread throughout the West this season, and on this particular night, smoke from the surrounding fires plagued the views of almost everything; that is until a summer storm filled the skies, creating a situation in which smoke, clouds, and rain created an atmosphere that was nothing short of magnificent!
A friend and I setup for long exposures, to attempt to catch lightning before the rain caught up to us. Rain trickled for about 15 minutes leading up to the moment. Then it began pouring. While heavy rain fell, I snapped this last shot and shazam! I had the shot. We sprinted to the car, but it was too late -- we were soaked all the way through! At least I got the shot!
