Late night view of St. Johns Bridge under a mostly overcast sky in Portland, Oregon. These two Gothic towers extend skyward, like sentries on the river. Occasionally a breeze would sway the leaves and waves too much, but this 30-second exposure worked out nicely, including the goose that remained still sufficiently to capture a nice silhouette under the bridge.
St. Johns Bridge spans the Williamette River in Portland suburbia. This suspension bridge is propped up by the two towers, both pictured here, and are 408 feet (124 m) tall. The bridge spans nearly a half mile. This is the tallest bridge in the Portland area, reaching about 400 feet (122 m). The bridge was dedicated June 13, 1931 [source: Wikipedia].
